UBANDOMA HERPS ON RETIREES WELFARE, DONATES HANDSOMELY
The Executive Chairman of Langtang North LGC, Hon. Ubandoma Joshua Laven reiterates that the only way to reciprocate the labour of our fallen heroes who laid their lives to ensure Nigeria remains one indivisible entity, is for government at all levels to prioritize the welfare of retirees and ensure they do not regret spending their productive years in the service of their fatherland.
Hon. Ubandoma made the assertion while delivering his speech at the 2020 remembrance day at the Local Government Counci Secretariat in Langtang on Wednesday, 15th January 2020.
The local government boss eulogized the sacrifice of our fallen heroes in maintaining the corporate existence of Nigeria as a nation and their gallant contributions in world peace by their involvement in international peace keeping operations.
He said that Nigerian soldiers have been dotted with gallantry in the world peace missions, and scores have lost their lives to make the nation proud.
Hon Ubandoma maintained that the only way the heroics of the fallen soldiers would be immortalized is by ensuring that welfare of the legion remains sacrosanct in government agenda. He made a donation of five hundred thousand Naira on behalf of the local government, (three hundred thousand to the Legion and two hundred thousand to their wives).
Appreciating the local government for the handsome donation, the LGA Chairman of Nigerian Legion in Langtang North, retired Navy Warrant Officer Jessy Miri said the local government continues to survive economic and political difficulties because of the zeal the leadership of the council has been putting in to keep the government at the grassroots afloat.
He appreciated God for sustained growth in the locality despite security threats bedeviling the country.
The significance of the remembrance day, according to him, is to reflect and show appreciation for the services rendered by our fallen heroes have rendered to the nation and humanity in general.
He said the Nigerian Legion is democratic and non-sectarian and without any affiliation with any political party
