The Police in Kanam Local Government Area has arrested Six-Women Syndicate that came back from Kano State for violating the border closure directive of the Executive Chairman of the council, Hon Wokdung Adamu Abbas since the confirmation of covid-19 cases in neigboouring Bauchi State.

The Chairman confirmed the arrest this morning after receiving a report by the committee on border closure between Kanam LGA and Bauchi State.

Hon Wokdung Abbas lamented the unpatriotic disposition of some citizens in the area for sneaking out of the Local Government Area through the bushes mainly in the night despite the total lockdown directive by the State Government.

The Council Chairman described the disappointing situation as unpatriotic and the height of inhumanity considering Government's relentless effort to preventing the spread of covid-19 pandemic into Plateau State.

The Chairman had since directed the security agencies in the area to arrest the six women and the driver so that they could  undergo fourteen days quarantine period to ascertain their Health status before taking further actions against them.

The Chairman ,however, use the opportunity to strongly warn all business men and women in the area who patronise the popular Kantin  Kwari market in Kano state to as a matter of urgency to desist from flouting government directives by applying crook means of following alternative routes through the bushes as violators will not be treated kindly.

The statement urged the peace loving people of the area to join hands with government in the fight against the dreaded coronavirus pandemic.

Wokdung also advised all citizens of the area to imbibe the spirit of patriotism by reporting any suspicious and unusual movement of vehicles in their communities especially those living in the border of Bauchi State.
