The outgoing Commander of Operation Save Haven (OPSH), a joint security task force for maintenance of peace in Plateau State and Southern Kaduna, Major General Augustine Agundu has that that peace and peaceful Co-existence are essential commodities that promote human development and progress of the society.

" I believe that the onus lies on all of us across the various strata of leadership to reflect on the greater benefits of promoting and preaching peace, forgiveness and reconciliation as against an unfortunate culture of instilling rancor and bitterness which has over the years shaped the crises across the theatre."

General Agundu who was officially handed over to Major General Chukwuemaka Okonkwo as the brand new Commander of OPSH in Jos said " unfortunately the inability to resolve even inconsequential and local issues between and across tribal divides due to age-long animosity and hatred has worsened the crises for almost 20 years."

He lament that some grassroots community and religious leaders are often culpable in promoting ill-toleranc that has further fuelled the many years of crises yet till date there is no winner!

He affirmed that OPSH under his command remained resolute to the actualization of the Chief of Defence Staff operational mandate even in the face of daunting challenges.

"The strategic guidance of the Chief of Army Staff to always maintain responsive posture gingered my troops to aggressively pursue our mandate."

The outgoing major General Agundu charged officers and men of the Nigerian Army to make history for themselves by remaining neutral to the people they are saving as their profession is a noble one.

He also admonished them to always maintain personal hygiene to avoid COVID-19 pandemic.

You would recall major General Augustine Agundu assumed command of Operation Save Haven, plateau state on the 25th July, 2018.
