As part of measures aimed at reducing the prevailing community transmission of Covid-19, Barkin-Ladi Local Government Council has directed the enforcement of compulsory use of face mask commencing Monday next week.

The Council authority said, the enforcement of compulsory use of facemask becomes imperative in view of the continuing violation of COVID-19 safety protocols in the Local Government Area.

The Management Committee Chairman Hon. Barrister Ezekiel Mandyau who gave the directive, expressed dissatisfaction with the laxity being demonstrated by residents.

He said, "from Monday next week, we are going to be making face masks compulsory in Barkin-Ladi LGA. We have distributed more than Eleven thousand facemask accross the 20 wards of the Local to indicate government's seriousness to the use of  facemask. There is some theoretical evidence that the wearing of facemask in public may indeed reduce the amount of droplets in the enviroment from the person that is infected with COVID-19 and that is the reason why we are beginning to define compulsory use of the facemask for the general community," he said.

This is to notify Barkin-Ladi residents and the general public that, the Local Government authority has directed the committee saddle with the enforcement policy not to treat defaulters with solve gloves. Anyone found wanting will pay fine and be force to buy the facemask.
