A livestock farmer, Alhaji Saidu Umaru, has sued the Plateau state government, permanent secretary,  Ministry of Finance, Alhaji Sani Yayaha, and two others over grazing land permit, in Wase local government area of the state.

The plaintiff in a suit No. PLD/J532/19, pending before the Plateau state High Court, averred that he has been on the said land situated at Jawando Area of Wase LGA, for more than 40 years, but that the defendants wanted to dislodge him despite securing legitimate grazing permit from the state Ministry of Agriculture in 2014.

The plaintiff said in a 24 paragraphs statement of claims contained in the writ of summons that 50 years of permit was granted to him by the 4th defendants being the state Ministry of Agriculture, and he has paid the chargeable fee for the period of ten years, which will elapsed in the next four years.

Alhaji Umaru alleged that despite court cases, he reliably gathered that the state government will revoke his permit.

He averred that all terms and conditions to the grazing permit has not been defaulted by him, but that he was suddenly, threatened by the 1st defendant, Alhaji Sani Yahaya, and was arrested and detained by the Police for two days at the Crime Investigation and Intelligence Department, Police headquarters Jos.

“The 1st defendant from nowhere started laying claim of ownership over the land in dispute,” he averred.
