Three persons have been killed at Gwa-Pwana village in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State following the invasion of the community by gunmen suspected to be terrorists on a rampage in the council and other neighbouring Local Government Areas.

A source close to the community disclosed that the gunmen numbering about twenty stormed the village at about 11:00 pm, on Tuesday, and shot sporadically towards different directions to announce their arrival.

The source further disclosed that the vigilante members in the community could not wade off the attack as a result of the superior fire force from the gunmen adding that the vigilantes had to retreat to avoid being gun down by the criminal elements.

It was gathered that in the shoot out, a vigilante was gun down and died instantly along with two others, while another two persons including a woman were kidnapped by the elements during the raid.

However, Barrister Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri of Emancipation Centre for Crisis Victims in Nigeria (ECCVN) who confirmed the incident said armed men suspected to be Fulani militias killed three persons at Gwa-Pwana hamlet of Vwang District in Jos South LGA, Plateau State.

He called on the both the federal and Plateau State governments to come to the aid of the people of Plateau North who were under constant attack and harassment adding that farmers in most of the communities in the zone could no longer access their farm for fear of being attacked.

All efforts to confirm the unfortunate incident from the State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Gabriel Ogaba, proved abortive as he did not respond to several phone calls put across to him.
