Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, have called on the Federal Government to facilitates inauguration of governing councils in Federal Polytechnics nationwide without further delay.

ASUP is agitating for integrate Polytechnics in the government's energizing education initiative, commence implementation of the 'Need Assessment' report for Polytechnics.

The president of ASUP, Anderson U.Ezeibe revealed the union's pressing demands to Journalists following their 98th National Executive Council(NEC) meeting, held in Plateau State Polytechnic Campus Jos from 1st to 4th December, 2020.

He further stressed some of the demands which includes; "resume the renegotiation of our union's agreement with the government, release owed arrears of the new minimum wage of members, commence implementation of the new minimum wage in states of the federation.

"Review the appointment of rector in Tatari Ali Polytechnic Bida and align same with the standards in Tertiary institutions by the Bauchi state government.

"Review the appointment of Rector in Federal Polytechnic Bida and align same with the provisions in the Federal Polytechnics Act.

"Recall our dismissed colleagues in IMT Enugu, Federal Polytechnic Mubi,and Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo. Release salaries owed our members in state Polytechnics in Abia, Osun,Ogun,Edo and Imo.

"Provide adequate security in campuses for the security of our  members and students", ASUP president concluded.
