The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs which held series of women activities in celebrating the International Women's Day, concluded the celebration by distributing palliatives Monday to women groups and societies in Abuja. 


Speaking to women groups and societies that graced the palliatives distribution, the Minister, Dame Pauline Tallen said that the palliatives were given to women to cushion the hardship they face at home as a result of the effects of the Covid19 pandemic on the economy which they suffer more as victims.


The minister commended women for the roles they play in the family saying that each family depends on the average women to survive hence the need to ensure they are well taken care of.



She further promised to deliver Covid19 Vaccines to all the women groups and societies within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) which to her is critical to all women. 


In her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Antonia Ekpa, commended the women groups who came out in their numbers to identify with the women's struggle and plight. 


She said the struggle for the liberation of women towards equal rights and justice remains key to success for all women.


Speaking on behalf of the women groups beneficiaries, Hajiya Salamatu Salihu of Women Commission, applauded the minister for the gesture towards mothers and children, and appealed to them to ensure proper use of the items given to them.


Highlight of the event was the presentation of items which included: spaghetti, wrappers, rice, oil, sorghum flour and others  to over fifty groups and societies.
