Acting Director-General of National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies(NIPSS), Kuru, Brid. Gen. CF Udaya have stated that the institute has slated Saturday 13th March,2021, as memorial lecture in honour of late Prof. Habu Galadima.
Prof. Habu Galadima who was former DG NIPSS died on the 20th December, 2020, after a brief illness.
The memorial lecture which is an annual event is put together by friends of late Prof. Habu Galadima and the National Institute.
Acting DG NIPSS Udaya hinted this to Journalists on Friday during Prof. Habu Galadima pre memorial lecture press conference at the National Institute board room.
Udaya said Vice President Federal Republic of Nigeria Professor Yemi Osinbajo is going to be in attendance.
He also revealed that the memorial lecture is to be in two series. The first lecture is on proliferation of small and live ammunition weapon,while the second lecture will be focusing on the legacies of late Prof. Habu Galadima.
The lecture is to be delivered by an erudite Professor of developmental studies Sam Egwu and other renowned scholar.
However, when asked that there were a lot of discussions, suggestions and recommendations on how to curtail the infiltration and proliferation of small arms ammunition in Nigeria by NIPSS but yet escalation of arms conflict keep persisting. The acting DG Udaya affirmed that " as an institute we will keep studying and talking about them,and also communicate with the authority concern for appropriate action", he mentioned.
