The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State has accused the Executive Governor of Plateau State Rt Hon Barr Simon Bako Lalong of valuing his political ambition above the lives of Plateau people. This was contained in a statement issued by the State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr J. T Akans and made available to journalists on Monday 24/5/2021.


This is coming following two separate attacks which occurred in Dong (Jos North LGA) and Kwi (Riyom LGA), which occurred late on Sunday 23/5/2021. Scores were reportedly killed by armed assailants in both communities.


Despite Governor Lalong’s condemnation of the sad event, the PDP in Plateau State is insisting that mere press statements are not enough to solve the security situation in the state. According the the statement, It is now clear that either Governor Lalong is playing politics with Peoples lives or he completely lacks the Capacity to take action as a Governor to defend his people.


The PDP on the Plateau stressed that they were tired of issuing condolence messages, urging the Governor of the state to be more decisive in addressing the security problems on the Plateau.


The party extended their deepest condolences to the people of the affected communities and prayed God to grant them peace. The statement us presented as received;

PRESS STATEMENT


The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is deeply saddened waking up this morning with yet another devastating news of deliberate attack on Dong village of Jos North Local Government, and kwi village of Riyom Local Government and which led to the gruesome killing without any provocation of 14 innocent People in their sleep by terrorists on Sunday 23rd day of may 2021.


Plateau state has been going through this widespread killings of its innocent citizens usually while at sleep in their homes without proactive measures from the state government.


We call on Governor Simon Bako Lalong to urgently tell Nigerians and the world of the true security situation of Plateau state, Plateau at the moment is under siege. Enough of his inaction, coverup, silence and political gimmicks on this continuous dastardly act which at the end he will end up issuing fiery vacuous political rhetoric statement, that is the only thing Governor Lalong is best at while we mourn our People every day.


It is unfortunate that Governor Lalong only values his political ambition more than the people of plateau which he swore to protect. People are killed on daily basis and the government continues singing self praises of achieving much Peace on the plateau. Unfortunately this propaganda is carried out without commensurate proactive measures in place hence all these killings.


The Inspector General of Police recently alerted the nation of possible attack by terrorist based on intelligent report which Plateau state was on red alert , but very unfortunate that our Executive Governor ignored such a sensitive report and failed to act accordingly thereby leading to loss of innocent lives


It is now clear that either Governor Lalong is playing politics with Peoples lives or he completely lacks the Capacity to take action as a Governor to defend his people.


The Peoples Democratic Party is tired of sending heartfelt condolences over deliberate attacks while this unserious government sits and watches people being murdered in their cold blood.


It is our Prayer that God will continue to guide and protect Plateau from political merchandize and evil doers who do not want the survival of the People and peace in the state.


We mourn with all those families affected, as we pray for the repose of the souls of our innocent citizens.
