Following the suspension of judiciary workers strike, courts in Plateau state have started rescheduling hearing dates this Tuesday.

Our correspondent learned that the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) suspended its strike over autonomy issues to resume on Tuesday.

The Secretary of JUSUN in Plateau, Mr. Passi Ishaya  said priority is being given to cases whose hearing dates have elapsed during the two-month strike.

He said suspects remanded in jail while awaiting trial will also receive hearing notices through prison staff.

He added that the  Judges even sat and a meeting was also held Chief Judge, where we were given detectives that we should go ahead and open the courts.

Ishaya explained that, we are already in our offices, but added that, litigants as well as suspects were seriously affected during the period of the strike.

He further revealed that most of the litigants, which cases could not go, were visited in frustration in a situation where people will come to court to get justice and the courts are locked, making it affects litigants badly.

He therefore urged all litigants to check their trial courts for the new date.

He however explained that it is the courts’ responsibility to send new hearing notices to litigants that are unaware of the resumption.
