Hon. Chris Hassan, Chairman elect Plateau State PDP

A former commissioner of works, Hon. Chris Hassan have emerged chairman of People's Democratic Party, PDP, Plateau State chapter following a state wide Congress that lasted from 25th to 27th September 2021.

Plateau State PDP Congress which held at Lang Field resort, Rayfield Jos the state capital saw the participation of more than 40 candidates who contested various positions of the party.

Our correspondent learned that about 1,819 delegates cutting across political wards of the 17 Local Government Areas of Plateau turn out and cast their votes.

Announcing the outcome of the election, Chairman of Plateau State PDP electoral committee Prince Olushola Akumude acknowledged that Hon. Chris Hassan pulled 1,526 votes to outclassed other co-contestants, Hon. Bitrus Kaze who scored 186 votes and Mrs. Monica Gwom got 8 votes respectively.

Akumude revealed that the total votes cast is 1,765 as 48 invalid votes were recorded.

He said the election was free, fair and transparent, calling on party stakeholders to embark on voters education and sensitization so that the voters will be guided properly ahead future elections.

Speaking shortly after taking the oath of allegiance, Plateau State PDP chairman elect, Hon. Chris Hassan said " today has mark another turning point for PDP family on the Plateau.

Hassan said PDP is the only political party that has capacity and capability of meeting the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians.

He assure to continue with robust reconciliation process aggrieved members,urged party loyalists to join hands and work together for the well-being of the party.

Hon. Bitrus Kaze while congratulating Chris Hassan for the victory recorded affirmed that " I am prepared to continue my PDP membership as the only party for Plateau and Nigeria".

He appreciates all delegates and promised to continue uniting all PDP family on the Plateau.
