 An NGO, the Creative Associate International, has trained 120 stakeholders from Numan, Demsa, Guyuk and Lamurde Local Government Areas of Adamawa State. 

Mr Ben Sunday, the Programme Officer of the organisation disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Jos.

According to Sunday, the exercise  organised under its project, Nigeria Northeast Connection, was in collaboration with the Adamawa State Peace Committee and funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The programme officer explained that the organisation had also established a Traditional Peace and Arbitration Committee (TPAC) in Numan, Guyuk,  and Lamurde,  in addition to the one crated by the state in Demsa.

''The aim of the workshop is to build the capacity of the participants on strategies to counter violent extremism, conflict management, conflict resolution.

''Also, to ensure peacebuilding and social cohesion among different groups of people in the beneffiting LGAs by looking at underlying grievances that are causing disaffection among community members.

''We have also expanded the TPAC to cover three additional LGAs to the existing one created by the state government, bringing the number to four in the state,'he said.

Sunday further explained that the training, which held seperately for 30 participants each from the four local government areas, began on Aug. 24 and  is expected to end by September, 7.

He explained that the Northeast Connection is a unique programme designed to provide opportunities toward building on existing efforts to achieve a common goal in stabilising and entrenching peace in the state.
