The Plateau State ministry of higher education has threatened stiff sanction for higher institutions operating in the state without obtaining license from the appropriate regulatory body.
The commissioner ministry of higher education Prof. Matur Bernard who issued the word of caution while speaking to newsmen in Jos, Tuesday, said government is working assiduously to stabilize education sector.
Bernard said few weeks beck the ministry embarked on quality assessment of all its tertiary institutions to ensure conducive learning environment for academic excellence.
He said, " based on this background were been able to discovered 145 tertiary institutions that are operating in Plateau state. Out of this number, less than 25℅ are legally or duly registered with Federal or state government.
"We are compelling the list of all tertiary institutions that are operating without license. And in couple of days we're going to role them out and made them public.
" We are calling on all tertiary institutions that have not registered with the state government or have not obtained their approval from the necessary accrediting body, most especially NCCE, NBTE etc, to do so within the shortest possible time to avoid any sanction by the law enforcement agency", Bernard warned.
In another development, the commissioner has announced the reappointment of Dr. Fwanji as the provost college of health technology Pankshin for another four years tenure by Governor Simon Lalong.
He said the council of college of health technology Pankshin on the 2nd November, 2022, wrote notifying governor Lalong for the expiration of the tenure of the provost of the college.
"Subject to the provision of the college law 2023 which empowers the visitors, that is the governor of the state to appoint the head of the tertiary institution of the state for the term of four years. The law also empowered him to reappoint the head of the institution for another term of four years."
