Plateau State Deputy Governor, Mrs Josephine Piyo, has tasked Christians to imbibe the culture of sacrificial life.

Piyo made this known during a thanksgiving service and internment of Prof. William and Audery Cowley, the pioneer principal of the Baptist High School (BHS) Jos.

Plateau deputy governor who represented Gov. Caleb Mutfwang, also urged Christians to emulate the humility, love, and selfless service of Jesus Christ and that of the late couple (Prof. William and Audery Cowley), which she said has impacted the lives of many on the Plateau and all over Nigeria.

“I want each and everyone of us to emulate Prof. William and his wife Audery Cowley who left America to come down to Nigeria especially Plateau for selfless service to humanity and help shape the lives of many.

“The life of a Christian is that of selfless service, and a race which will begin here on earth to our final home in heaven.

She called on Christians to live a life of positive impact in the society, to draw people and do those things that would be acceptable before God.

Earlier in his remarks, Mr Oladoye Oladokun, an almunus of the school, stated that the pioneer principal whom had served for almost of a quarter century of their lifetime in the school, graciously adopted Nigeria as their second country of residence and the school as their final resting place.

Oladukun added that the family of the late pioneers graciously released the remains of their father who died on April 4, 2023 and that of their mother who died on December 11, 2020 according to their wish to be laid to rest in Nigeria.

In an exhortation, President of the Baptist Convention, Rev. Israel Akanji, urged the congregation to fight a good fight, finish the race and keep the faith as instructed in the Bible.

Akanji described life as a building where the foundation needed to be strong for it to stand, charging Christians to train their children in the way that they should grow as they would not depart from it.

The clergy offered prayers of peace for the state and God’s wisdom on the Governor and his deputy so that they can steer the affairs of the state well and with the fear of God.
