Plateau deputy governor, Mrs. Josephine Piyo and chairman ACF Plateau state chapter Mohammed Tali

Plateau State Deputy Governor, Mrs Josephine Piyo, has called for the arrest and prosecution of gunmen that have continued unleash mayhem on citizens.

The Deputy Governor stated this when she received the leadership of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF).

Piyo who was speaking on behalf of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, said that the arrest and prosecution of the criminals would serve as a deterrent to others who may want to attack other communities in the future.

She regretted that a large number of bandits were moving from one place to another without being apprehended and called on the security agencies to intensify efforts towards curbing their activities.

The Deputy Governor however, thanked President Bola Tinubu, for sending the ACF to tour troubled states in efforts to curtail the conflicts and other laudable steps taken to end the killings.

She lauded the change of the service chiefs and hoped that the changes would bring about the end of the killings in the state and the country at large.

Piyo also charged the Army and other security personnel responsible for addressing the killings to be fair and just in their dealings and treat all parties equally.

Earlier, the Chairman of Arewa Consultative Forum, Plateau state Chapter, Comrade Mohammed Tali, stated that they were directed by the President to tour troubled states in the North in efforts to find lasting peace.

Tali charged the state government to take steps and decisions that would save the lives of people.

He faulted Northern governors for not ending the Almajiri system, which he said was one of the reasons behind the persisting crisis in the North.

He prayed that the President takes decisive steps to tackle the security situation in the country.
