In an effort to curtail leakages and boost revenue generation for effective service delivery, the management of Jos North local government council has taken over issuing of daily tickets to tricycle operators, popularly known as "Keke Napep with immediate effect.
The Council chairman, Barr. John Kyohroh Christopher, ordered that henceforth collection of daily ticket revenue from tricycle operators within Jos North metropolitan area will be spearheaded by the Council's authority.
This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Jos, the Plateau state capital by Barry Ndon Bakret, director revenue on behalf of the chairman Jos North local government council.
According to the statement, All those initially collecting the daily ticket revenue from the tricycle operators either on the roads or various parks within Jos North LGA should stop forthwith.
"The Keke Napep operators Within Jos North LGA should not pay the daily ticket revenue to any person's aside from those whom the Local Government assigned with the responsibility to collect.
"Any person's found violating this order will be made to face the full wrath of the Law, as relevant agencies have been notified for appropriate compliance and enforcement..
"All tricycles operating within Jos North LGA routes are advice to cooperate with the council authority by paying their daily ticket revenue to the designated officials in order to enable the Council serve them better", the statement added.
However, pundits described the well-thought initiative by Jos North local government authority under the leadership of John Kyohroh Christopher as timely, believed it will go a long way to enhance revenue drive, and in turn enable the council inject laudable projects to the masses.
The pundits also revealed that before now there is no harmonization in daily ticket revenue as only 5% comes into the post of local government and the remaining 95% has not been remitted to the council.
