The umbrella body of ethnic nationalities known as Plateau Initiative for Development and Advancement of the Native (PIDAN), has expressed gratitude to President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for assenting a bill establishing North Central Development Commission (NCDC).

PIDAN applaud National Assembly caucus from Plateau and their counterparts from North central states for their doggedness to ensure passage of the bill.

This was contained in a statement signed and issued to acenews online medium Thursday in Jos, the state capital by PIDAN secretary, Danjuma Dickson Auta.

The statement read in parts.

The Plateau Initiative for Development and Advancement of the Natives (PIDAN), under the leadership of Ambassador Danjuma Nanpon Sheni and the entire good people of Plateau, expresses deep gratitude and appreciation to Mr. President, Sen. Ahmed Bola Tinubu, (GCFR) for graciously considering the request of the good people of the North Central for the establishment of the North Central Commission and signing the Bill into law.

"PIDAN believes that as the Commission takes effect, the people of the region will surely sight a sense of relief as the Commission is meant to oversee the development and growth of the North Central Region.

The Commission will focus on promoting  economic empowerment and reducing poverty in the region. We also believe that the Commission will bring about massive infrastructural development in the region by providing critical infrastructures, including roads, bridges, and healthcare facilities.

"PIDAN also wishes to place on record its appreciation to members of the National Assembly Caucus from Plateau State under the leadership of Sen. Barr. Simon Bako Lalong and their counterparts from the North Central States and other states, who fought gallantly by putting aside party differences to ensure that the Commission became a reality.

"PIDAN appreciates the co-sponsor of the bill former Senator Istifanus D. Gyang and minority Senator Abba Moro. The establishment of the North Central Commission is great testimony to the memory of Senator J.T. Useni who had also fought for its establishment in the 8th Senate.

"The establishment of the North Central Commission would not have been possible without the collaborative efforts of the members from Plateau state who worked closely with their colleagues from other states to build consensus.

"As PIDAN awaits the constitution of the management team for the Commission, we urge Mr. president to ensure that Justice, equity and fairness are observed", the statement concluded.
