Senator representing Plateau Northern senatorial district at the 10th Nigeria Senate, Prince Pam Mwakwon Dachwungyang has stated that the circumstances which brought his emergence as senator was a miracle and divine arrangement of God.
Senator Dachwungyang, a chieftain of Action Democratic Party (ADP), acknowledged before now he did not contested,won and served in any political office.
Recalled Dachwungyang won the rerun election that took place sometimes in February, 2024, and succeeded former Senate minority leader, Simon Mwakwon who alongside other PDP candidates whom were affected by Appellate Court judgement between October and November, 2023.
Daily Champion reports that, the Senator embarked in a thank you tour where he met with traditional rulers, religious leaders, women, youths, people with disability and other stakeholders cutting across six local governments of Barkin-Ladi, Bassa, Jos East, Jos North, Jos South and Riyom that made up Plateau North senatorial district.
The senator who was in Barkin-Ladi local government while assuring constituents his unwavering commitment towards effective legislation said the era of litigation is gone and now is time to focus on governance.
"My coming here is to say thank you for trusting me with your mandates during the rerun election. Despite short time of our campaign you come out en-masse and casted your votes for me, and you extend such gesture despite the fact that majority of you don't know me.
"I could have come since before now but due to issues of litigation which greeted my election it wasn't possible. We remind grateful to God Almighty who granted us victory both in the Tribunal and Appeal Court. I can assure you that the era of litigation is gone and now I am committed to governance", he mentioned.
The Lawmaker is saddened that it is very unfortunate he went to the Senate at the time when the 2024 appropriation were already passed into law, and Plateau North could not benefit from it due to lack of representation.
He also expressed optimism that the zone is well captured in 2025 budget as he is part of the appropriation process.
According to him, "I am planning to sponsor a bill for the transformation of veterinary research institute Vom to become Federal University of veterinary research institute and also Plateau State Polytechnic to be upgrade to Federal University of science and technology.
"By the grace of God we are arrangement is on the pipeline to empower our women, youths, widows, orphans, widowers, people with disability and provide scholarships for the children of the poorest of the poor.
He pleaded with the constituents to remain steadfast and patience with the little intervention which will their way taking into account that they had huge demands and expectations.
His Royal Highness Dagwom Rwei of Barkin-Ladi, Da Edward Bot described the senator as paragon of humility, urging him to consider establishment of bill in the course of his legislation that will give traditional rulers their pride of place in the Nigerian constitution, saying the traditional rulers has been neglected.
Chairman of Barkin-Ladi local government council, Stephen Pwajok represented by his deputy, Prince Felix Peter promised to continue supporting and collaborating with the senator to enhance dividends of democracy.
Other stakeholders pleaded with the senator to consider empowering farmers with fertilizer, seedlings and other farm inputs to boost agriculture.
They also raised concern that many communities whom were displaced as a result of attacks by the terrorists are yet to be resettled back to their ancestral abode.
