The Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer, JOKATU Property Development Limited, Abuja, Mr. John Gamasaura Katura have sympathize with Jos main market traders over the unfortunate fire outbreak on Tuesday night that burnt down about 500 shops, destroyed properties worth millions of Naira.

Katura, a humanitarian vanguard, bemoans that the ugly scenario injected huge setback to affected traders as well as Plateau State government, most especially taking into cognisant the harsh economic reality of the nation.

A statement signed and issued to acenews online by Katura on Wednesday in Jos, said he received the news of the fire inferno at the Jos Main Market, which sad event occurred on Tuesday, 29 April, 2025 with deep sorrow and grief. 

"This is a very big  loss  not only to the affected traders but the entire market association as well as people of Plateau state, as this will further worsen the economic hardship of our people, who are already struggling to cope with the general hardship brought about by food inflation on account of removal of fuel subsidy as well as increase in electricity tariffs.                

"I urge the victims to take this ugly incident as one decreed by the Almighty God and pray that He bring succour to those affected and save us from future incident."

Katura commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang and Plateau people for sympathizing with affected traders, urged government intervene and mitigate the losses incurred by the victims.
                                   
"I join the people of Plateau State in expressing my gratitude to His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, the Executive Governor of Plateau State for his  immediate reaction and commiseration with those affected and the people of Plateau over this most unfortunate incident. 

"I call on the Plateau State Government to intervene and mitigate losses incurred by the victims of the fire inferno.

"I further call for a thorough investigation into the cause of the incident and the report made public to prevent future occurrences.

"Please, accept my heartfelt sympathy", Katura concluded.
