A Catholic priest, Very Rev. Father Joseph Pam Nyam have described his 50 years of priesthood journey in the vineyard of God as a journey of prayers, perseverance, and tolerance.
Father Nyam, who celebrated 50th priesthood journey which culminated with his 75th birthday anniversary, held at Fatima Catholic Church in Jos, Wednesday, tasked young people to be more focused and determined in life.
"My message to the young people is this: let them be focused, let them be determined, and let them choose a life path or career that will sustain them for the long haul. Our children must also avoid anything that will cloud their minds or affect their ability to think clearly.
"That means they must stay away from drugs and anything else that could lead to an unpleasant life. Engaging in such things distorts what God has planned for them."
The clergy believed God has given everyone a unique calling in life—"a call to be housewives, teachers, doctors, or any number of things. My call was to be a priest, and I have stayed true to that calling for these 50 years."
Delivering his Homily according to gospel of Jeremiah, the Catholic Archbishop of Shendam Diocese, Philip Dung, admits that service is very important in the life of a priest as servicing demands total sacrifice for God and humanity.
He said the Church is experiencing the mystery of betrayals, Judahs from the world.
He further lament that the Church today has become the house of comedy instead of adhering to sound doctrine of God spirituality and morality.
Underscoring Rev. Father Nyam's tremendous achievements, 50 years of service, the guest preacher admonished him to continue inspiring the young priests.
