The National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Plateau State Council have elected new executive committee members to pilot the affairs of the association for the next three years tenure.

Our correspondent reports that, following the expiration of six years double term of Mrs Nene Dung led administration, who held from Plateau Radio Television Corporation (PRTVC) chapel alongside other executives, Plateau NAWOJ conducted fresh elections to fill the void.

It was learned that Mrs Grace Akwe Gotip of Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) chapel emerged brand new NAWOJ chairperson to succeed Nene Dung.

Chairman of Plateau NAWOJ 2025 elections and credentials committee, Mrs Lucy Chindaba declared that all the seven positions were unopposed and " hereby returned elected."

The affirmation exercise came to fruition on Wednesday at NUJ secretariat in Jos.
Other positions returned elected includes; Vice chairperson, Yvonne Ishola- PPC chapel, Secretary, Mwuese Praise Adem- Highland FM, assistant secretary, Esther Andrew-State Information chapel, treasurer, Jembyen Zitta- PRTVC chapel, financial secretary, Patience Aliyu- Correspondents' chapel as well as auditor, Asile Emmanuel Abel- Correspondents' chapel respectively.

Speaking shortly after oath taking, Chizoba Ogbechi, NAWOJ Vice president zone D (North Central) admonished in incoming executives to work assiduously to surpass predecessors as they carry everybody along.
The chairman NUJ, Plateau State council, Mrs Ayuku Pwaspo while congratulating the new executives, charged them to continue striving in accelerating and amplifying their voices against gender based issues, most especially on women and children in Plateau.

In her acceptance message, the brand new NAWOJ chairperson, Plateau State council, Grace Akwe Gotip, vowed to work tirelessly to justify the mandate entrusted on her.

She promised to prioritize capacity building,networking, and partnership to better the welfare of all members, calling on members to join hands and work together for the betterment of the association.

"We are aware of the challenges that lies ahead but together we can navigate and excel."

She thanked her predecessors for their support, saying that as executives their door is always open for wish counselling.

The outgone chairperson, Nene Dung acknowledged members, zonal and national leaders tremendous support, calling for same gesture to be accorded to her successor.
