Director General of Plateau Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA), Samuel Dapiya, has rated the routine sanitation exercise compliance for the month of September high by Plateau citizens.

Dapiya who led task force for the monthly sanitation exercise on Saturday stated that sanitation is a civic responsibility which all Plateau citizens should always adhered and comply.

Our correspondent who monitored the situation report that there were mere compliance in places such as Angwan- Rogo, Angwan- Rimi, and worst of it Farin gada market within Jos metropolis, as the DG PEPSA said the agency will continue intensifying conversation with the market authorities as well as leaders of other unions to enhance total compliance going forward.

It was also observed that the passers by and defaulters were charged to mobile court and fine accordingly by the Magistrate.
According to Dapiya, "We drove through Angwan rogo , Angwan rimi,  Farin gada. A total flout of the law in Farin gada market we're going to have plans to address the issues. We're going to sit with the union. But by and large, there have been significant, great improvements in the cooperation of Plateau people.

"The streets are clean because people  also involved in sanitation generally. And I would want to use this opportunity to say a very big thank you to Plateau people, the people that cooperate to help us keep Plateau clean. Keke Napep people, the NURTW, media people, and even business owners who comply from 7am down to 10am to ensure that Plateau is kept clean", he mentioned.

DG PEPSA further opined that law is a blind and it doesn't know friend and whosoever caught violating sanitation hours the law must take it course.

"The friend I met he's actually even a member and  the chairman of the plateau united supporters club and for me he should be somebody that should obey what the law looks like. So we ensured that he was fine because he's supposed to be a community mobilizer within his community so we use him to show an example within his community.

"Our plea as a government is for people to take full responsibility of their environment, you know, it's your civic duty to have a clean, safe and healthy environment. We just celebrated the World Environmental Health Day, and part of our mission is to make sure to increase the quality of air that we have. And we can't achieve this if Plateau citizens are not involved in this work."
