The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has stated that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu prioritize building an economy that thrives on connectivity without unnecessary bottlenecks.

Senator Akume said from roads to railways, from airports to inland ports, the Federal Government is investing in systems that promote the ease of doing business, reduce logistics costs, and expand the frontiers trade.

The SGF made the revelation on Tuesday during the official commissioning of a 250-capacity auditorium, Nigerian Shippers' Council, North-Central zonal coordinating office Jos, Plateau State.

Senator Akume said infrastructural development is not a choice rather it is a national priority.

"We are building an economy that thrives on connectivity: an economy where a farmer in Bauchi can ship produce seamlessly to Lagos, and an exporter in Jos can access global markets without unnecessary bottlenecks.

"This is the future we are creating. A Nigeria whose ports are efficient, whose logistics chain is world-class, and whose economy is globally competitive.

"However, government cannot achieve this mission alone. The responsibility for building and sustaining infrastructure rests on collective partnership between government agencies, the private sector, development partners, and host communities.

"Let us view infrastructure not merely as a government project, but as national assets that require protection and maintenance. Let us build not only roads and terminals, but systems that outlive administrations and serve generations to come.

"The North Central Zone, blessed with mineral resources, fertile land, and industrious people, holds immense export potential. With improved logistics infrastructure, this region can become a key driver of Nigeria’s diversification agenda, contributing significantly to non-oil exports and national revenue", the SGF mentioned.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang represented by his deputy, Josephine Piyo, pointed out that the edifice reaffirms the Council's strategic role in promoting efficient logistics, trade facilitation, and economic development across our great nation.

"For us in Plateau State, the presence and activities of the Nigerian Shippers' Council here in Jos signify more than administrative expansion; they represent an opportunity for enhanced trade linkages, investment attraction, and job creation. 

"We are committed to creating an enabling environment that encourages enterprise, reduces bottlenecks, and supports sustainable economic growth", Piyo stated.

The Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian Shippers' Council, Dr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima, acknowledged that the edifice unveiling marks a major milestone in their drive towards bringing the activities of the Shippers' Council closer to the people and to strengthen the economic connectivity between their inland regions and the nation's maritime gateway.

He also revealed that the auditorium is fully equipped with state of the art communication system, clear sightlines, comfortable seating, and a networking foyer which ensures it meets international standards for conferencing, learning, and high-level engagements.

The 250 capacity state-of-the-art auditorium was commissioned by the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda represented Chief Emmanuel Eneukwu the APC Deputy National Chairman South, with a charged to the management to make good use of the facility for the upliftment of citizens.
