Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel, joined Governor Caleb Mutfwang, parents, and other dignitaries on Monday to bid farewell to 200 Plateau students awarded fully-funded scholarships to undertake studies at SANSKARAN University, New Delhi, India.
Congratulating the beneficiaries, the Speaker described the moment as a testament to hope, resilience, and a brighter future for Plateau State, applauding the young scholars for distinguishing themselves through academic merit and discipline.
He charged them to remain focused and be worthy ambassadors of the State and Nigeria as a whole.
According to him, “This opportunity places upon you a responsibility to pursue excellence and return home as solution providers in medicine, engineering, ICT, and other global fields of relevance.”
Rt. Hon. Daniel reiterated the Assembly’s unwavering support for education reforms and human capital development under the present administration, noting that Plateau’s future growth lies in developing a skilled generation capable of driving innovation and national transformation.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang, while addressing the students and their families, emphasized that children are the answered prayers of parents and that God has placed them on a platform to succeed, giving them “a future and a hope.”
He assured that the State will continue to pray for their success and ensure they remain comfortable during their studies abroad.
The Governor urged the students to avoid distractions and remain committed to the pursuit of knowledge, stressing that Nigeria’s future would soon rest in their hands.
He encouraged them to strive to become inventors, creators, and outstanding professionals who can contribute to global advancement.
Governor Mutfwang also lauded the parents for their perseverance in raising their children to this level.
He further commended the Ministry of Education for ensuring a transparent selection process based strictly on merit and inclusivity, free from external influences or discrimination.
Mutfwang reaffirmed that the government will support students engaged in research and other areas of academic excellence.
Commissioner for Education, Dr. Kachollom Gang, congratulated the scholars, describing the moment as a historic lifeline that will expand the future of Plateau children.
She applauded Governor Mutfwang for his vision and dedication to developing the next generation of leaders.
Gang called on the students to remain disciplined and uphold the spirit of unity in diversity that defines Plateau people as they embark on the international programme.
Goodwill messages from traditional leaders including the Ujah of Anaguta and Pozoh Johnson Jauro Magaji, as well as representatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Nigeria Immigration Service, and the State Scholarship Board, who encouraged the beneficiaries to uphold good character and make Plateau State proud.
