The member representing Jos North-North constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Dr. Adamu Aliyu, has vehemently condemned the barbaric and unprovoked attack that occurred yesterday, Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Anguwan Rukuba (Gari Ya Waye community) in Jos North Local Government Area.
The attack, carried out by unidentified gunmen who opened fire on innocent residents, resulted in the tragic loss of several lives, with many others sustaining injuries.
A statement issued to newsmen on Monday in Jos, Dr. Aliyu described the incident as “senseless, cowardly, and a direct assault on the peace-loving people of Jos North.”
The lawmaker expressed profound sorrow and extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and the injured. He prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the victims and quick recovery for those wounded.
He further called on all security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, and other relevant stakeholders, to immediately and thoroughly investigate the matter, fish out the perpetrators, and ensure they
are brought to justice without any further delay.
“We cannot allow this cycle of violence and bloodshed to continue in our dear state. The security agencies must act swiftly and decisively to apprehend those responsible for this dastardly act and bring them to face the full wrath of the law,” he stated.
The Honourable Member further appealed to the good people of Jos North to remain calm, law-abiding, and refrain from any form of reprisal or self-help that could escalate the already tense situation.
“I urge our youths and residents of Jos North to exercise maximum restraint and allow the security agencies to carry out their constitutional duties. Taking the law into our own hands will only worsen the problem and bring more hardship to our communities,” Aliyu emphasized.
He also joined well-meaning citizens in praying for the restoration of lasting peace in Jos North and Plateau State at large.
“May the Almighty God comfort the bereaved families, heal the injured, and grant us the peace that surpasses all understanding.
"Enough is enough. We must all rise above violence and work together towards unity, tolerance, and sustainable development in Plateau State,” he prayed.
The Lawmaker reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the security and welfare of his constituents and assured them that he will continue to engage relevant authorities at all levels to ensure improved security architecture and lasting peace in the area.
He commended the Plateau State Government for the swift imposition of a 48-hour curfew in Jos North to restore order and prevent further breakdown of law and order.
