The governorship candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Plateau State for 2027 general elections, Pastor Amb. Margaret Inusa Yahaya, has stated that the people are tired of leadership without any genuine result to show.
Margaret revealed that Plateau and Nigerians are yarning for better governance, hence the need to correct the ills bedevilling the state by bringing candidate worthy to salvage the state and the country.
She made the revelation while delivering her acceptance speech after a widespread affirmation by the SDP as sole governorship candidate of the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
Our correspondent reports that the SDP members across the 17 local government area of Plateau unanimously affirmed the candidature of Amb. Margaret Inusa Yahaya during the governorship primary supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), held Tuesday 26th May, 2026 in Jos.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity given her by the SDP family to become a flagbearer, Margaret says the moment is not about her, but about Plateau State, its people, and their future.
She further highlights widespread hardship, noting that "insecurity and attacks leaving families in fear, fathers struggling to feed children, graduates unemployed,
farmers unsafe on farms, businesses collapsing,poor roads, hospitals struggling, underfunded schools, growing hunger and frustration.
"Common cry across Jos, Shendam, Pankshin, Wase, Barkin Ladi, Langtang, Riyom, Kanam and local governments: We want peace, opportunity, and caring leadership", she mentioned.
Margaret acknowledged that if giving the mandate to govern the state in 2027, her priority will be "the people first", as leadership is service, not power
"My desire is to prioritize, widows, unemployed graduates, farmers, market women, teachers, artisans, civil servants, young entrepreneurs."
She enjoined citizens to reject politicians who consistently delve into politics first, personal interests, godfatherism, and empty promises.
Emphasizing on unity of purpose, the flagbearer said Plateau belongs to all ethnic and religious groups across North, Central, and Southern zones.
"Diversity is strength, not weakness. We should end division and hatred; time for healing, unity, and rebuilding.
"As a mother, I Pledged to lead with fear of God, transparency, humility, and compassion. I urged citizens to join the movement, mobilize communities, stand for peace and unity, believes Plateau’s best days are ahead, with peace, prosperity, and renewed pride possible under SDP", Margaret concluded.
