Former Nigerian Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has emerged winner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary in Plateau.

Atiku Abubakar scored 47, 558 votes defeating his opponents former minister of transport Rotimi Amaechi who pulled 13, 494 votes as well as Muhammed Hayatu-Deen that secured 3,334 votes cast across the 17 local government areas of Plateau.

Announcing the outcome of the exercise, the chairman Plateau State ADC presidential primaries committee, Hassan Abdullahi alongside secretary, Barr. Hassan Yakubu confirmed that elections were conducted in 17 LGA of Plateau and results collated.

They further declared that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar having scored the highest number of votes casted (47,558) is hereby declared winner and returned elected as the ADC presidential candidate in 2027 general elections.

They said the declaration of Atiku's emergence was in tandem with the provisions of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, electoral act as well as the ADC constitution and guideline.
Speaking to newsmen after the pronouncement,the Plateau ADC governorship candidate, Colonel John Sura (rtd) acknowledged that now the coast is clear, described ADC as the only credible opposition to bring much anticipated governance for Nigerians.

"Were about to start a journey. Some have already started. So I want to encourage each and every member of the ADC in Plateau state, let's begin to talk to the people from other political parties, let them come and join us to rebuild Nigeria and also establish an upright administration.

"The administration that would give lifeline to the people of Plateau, the administration that would secure the people, the administration that would bring unity to the people of Plateau.

"It is our desire that the economy of Nigeria would be address properly. The poor and poorest of the poor would be taking care of.

"We will be soon unveiling our blueprint which would give us a direction on how to change the narrative of governance from the federal down to the state levels.
"Therefore, we look forward to continue synergizing with Plateau people and Nigerians", Sura added.

However, ADC chairman Plateau State chapter, farmer Dung Daweng Pam appreciates party faithfuls cutting across the 17 local governments for their corporation during the presidential primaries.

Pam applauded committee who conducted the election for their diligence, perseverance and transparency.

He urged Nigerians to always support the ADC as they await the official declaration of the party's presidential flagbearer in the forthcoming 2027 general elections, saying "ADC is the party that cares for Nigerians".
