Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang has defeated his opponent in the All Progressives Congress APC, Governorship Primary Elections in Mikang Local Government Area.
The Returning Officer for the APC Governorship Primary Election, Hon. Muhammad Auwal Hamza announced the results at the APC Secretariat in Tunkus before representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies at about 7:00pm on Thursday.
According to Hamza, the total number of accredited voters stood at 6,446.
"Governor Caleb Mutfwang scored 6,288 votes, while Navy Commodore Yilchini Jan Bida (rtd) polled 158 votes.
Speaking after the announcement, Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel Gapyil appreciates the INEC officials, security agencies, APC family for ensuring a peaceful and orderly conduct of the exercise in Mikang.
The Speaker described Governor Mutfwang’s victory as one anticipated by the people, noting that the people of Mikang have continued to enjoy the Governor’s goodwill through impactful projects and inclusive leadership.
He further stated that the outcome of the primary reflected the confidence and overwhelming support the people have for Governor Mutfwang’s administration, describing the exercise as peaceful, transparent, and successful.
