We are aware of allegations that George Daika received ₦25 million to deliver Timdi Nkat but has since been lamenting his failure to do so.

We, the Concerned Piapung Youths for Development in Mikang Local Government Area, have watched with disgust the recent attacks and allegations made by Rt. Hon. George Edwards Daika against the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel Gapyil.

Ordinarily, we would have ignored his shenanigans, but it has become necessary to set the record straight.

The simple truth is that George Daika appears unwilling to accept the fact that the people of Piapung, his own ancestral home, overwhelmingly stood behind their son, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel Gapyil.

The people of Mikang clearly demonstrated where their loyalty and confidence lie. What transpired in Piapung was a powerful demonstration of the will of the people.

Contrary to the false narratives being circulated, the events in the community reflected overwhelming support and solidarity for Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel Gapyil. The inhabitants of Piapung stood united in defense of their collective choice, sending a clear message that the voice of the people cannot be ignored or manipulated.

The reality remains simple: Piapung, Koenoem, and Tehl spoke with one voice, and that voice was firmly behind its son, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel Gapyil. Even in Garkawa, the community of Timdi Nkat, Naanlong Daniel secured significant votes.

It is unfortunate that a politician of Daika’s standing has chosen bitterness and endless allegations instead of reflecting on why he continues to lose support among the very people he once claimed to represent.

Instead of accepting the people’s verdict, he has embarked on a campaign of calumny aimed at discrediting a man whose popularity and acceptance continue to grow.

What is even more troubling is the growing perception that George Daika’s recent attacks are motivated by personal interests beyond the concerns he publicly claims to represent.

We are aware of allegations that he collected ₦25 million from his opponent and members of his team, with the expectation that he would support their agenda. Having failed to deliver, he now appears to be working hard to justify that support through continuous attacks on the Speaker. If these allegations are false, he owes the public a clear explanation.

However, his conduct has only fueled public suspicion and raised serious questions about his motives. To many observers, his actions appear less like a pursuit of truth and more like an attempt to satisfy political benefactors.

It is also important to place Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel’s previous electoral defeat in its proper context. The outcome was influenced largely by the Muslim–Muslim ticket controversy, which shaped political sentiments and voting patterns at the time.

Another significant factor was the attempt by the then state government to relocate Zomo Town to Shendam, a development that generated widespread reactions and significantly affected political dynamics within the constituency.

Today, many of those who were influenced by those circumstances have come to appreciate Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel’s leadership, performance, accessibility, and commitment to public service. This explains the overwhelming support he now enjoys across the constituency.

His acceptance demonstrates clearly that the people have moved beyond political sentiments and are now standing firmly behind a leader they trust.

For clarity: Mikang has four districts. Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel is from Piapung, while Timdi Nkat is from Garkawa. An objective analysis shows that without Piapung and Garkawa, Naanlong Daniel clearly won in Tehl and Koenoem Districts. Even with Garkawa included, he still secured significant votes there.

With this, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel won in three districts and was significantly voted for in Garkawa.

Therefore, the portrayal of George Daika as the only active “actor” in this political narrative is misleading and inconsistent. The most embarrassing aspect of this entire episode is that George Daika appears determined to project his own political rejection onto the Speaker. Rather than accept the clear message sent by his ancestral community, he continues to search for excuses and narratives to explain what has become obvious to everyone.

The just-concluded primary election spoke louder than any social media post, sponsored narrative, or political propaganda. The outcome reflected the wishes of the people and confirmed the widespread acceptance of Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel Gapyil across the constituency.

The votes delivered a verdict that cannot be rewritten through emotional appeals or repeated allegations. It is therefore surprising that George Daika continues to question outcomes that were clearly determined by the people.

Piapung, Tehl, and Koenoem remain strongholds of Naanlong Daniel. Even in Garkawa, from where Timdi Nkat comes, he still received significant votes because of his connection with the grassroots, his accessibility, and his commitment to the welfare and development of the people. Political support is earned through service and sacrifice, not entitlement.

Furthermore, George Daika’s continuous attempts to portray the Speaker as a violent politician stand in sharp contrast to the reality known by the people of Mikang. Throughout his political trajectory, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel Gapyil has remained peaceful, law-abiding, and respectful of democratic principles. He has never instigated violence, sponsored attacks, or encouraged hostility against George Daika or any other political opponent.

His politics has always been rooted in engagement with the people rather than confrontation with opponents. Politics should not be driven by envy, bitterness, personal vendettas, or inability to accept defeat. Leadership requires maturity, honesty, humility, and respect for the democratic wishes of the people.

The people of Mikang have spoken repeatedly and clearly, and their verdict cannot be overturned through propaganda or intimidation. George Daika should come to terms with the reality before him: the political tide has shifted, and the people have made their choice. The more he attacks Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel Gapyil, the more he reminds the public of the rejection he continues to struggle to overcome.

The people of Piapung have spoken. Their verdict is clear. Their loyalty is clear. Their choice is clear.
