--Says George Daika is a statesman who deserves the respect of all, irrespective of politics; I harbours no grudge against him.
Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel, has called on the people of Mikang Local Government Area to embrace unity, reconciliation and mutual respect in the interest of sustainable peace, progress and political stability.
The Speaker stated that he harbours no ill feelings or personal grudge against Rt. Hon. George Daika, stressing that there is no misunderstanding between them.
He explained that political contests should never be mistaken for personal enmity, noting that differences arising from elections are part of the democratic process and should end once the exercise is concluded.
Rt. Hon. Daniel emphasized that the APC primary election was purely a political exercise and should not be used to create unnecessary divisions among brothers and sisters who have worked together for the development of Mikang over the years.
According to him, politics should unite people around shared aspirations rather than breed hatred or bitterness.
The Speaker described Rt. Hon. George Daika as a statesman of high repute whose years of selfless service, experience and commitment to public service have earned him the respect and admiration of the people.
He said leaders who have served their people at the national, state or local government levels deserve to be honoured and respected at all times, irrespective of political affiliation or differences.
Rt. Hon. Daniel said he holds Rt. Hon. George Daika in high esteem and continues to rely on his wisdom, experience and proven leadership qualities, alongside those of other respected leaders and stakeholders, in advancing the unity, progress and electoral success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Mikang and Plateau State.
The Speaker appreciated Rt. Hon. George Daika, elder statesmen, political leaders, party faithful and supporters for their sacrifices, wise counsel and unwavering commitment to the growth of Mikang.
He assured them that their contributions remain invaluable and will continue to shape the future of the party and the development of the local government.
He further urged members of the public to be mindful of their words and actions, reminding them that careless statements capable of insulting or ridiculing respected leaders only deepen divisions within the community.
Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel called on people of conscience to always accord deserving respect to leaders and elders while promoting civility, tolerance and responsible public discourse.
The Speaker reaffirmed his commitment to working with all stakeholders irrespective of previous political alignments, urging party members and supporters to put the primary election behind them, forgive one another and embrace genuine reconciliation.
He maintained that unity remains the foundation upon which greater political success and meaningful development can be achieved.
Rt. Hon. Daniel assured the people that his leadership would continue to promote inclusiveness, justice, fairness and mutual respect.
