-----unveils 120 pages blueprint for Plateau

The governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Plateau state for 2027 general elections, Samuel Danauta Kyarkshik, has promised to end insecurity, poverty, and unemployment challenges if giving the mandate to govern the state.

Kyarkshik said the current administration in the state has failed woefully to deliver good governance the people are yarning for despite huge monthly allocation receiving from the Federal Government.

The Plateau APM governorship who unveiled his 120 pages blueprint on Tuesday in Jos while speaking to newsmen said he can will take advantage of agriculture and mineral resources to industrialised the state without overspending on Federal allocation.

"Today, when you look at the situation on the Plateau, we're, as a matter of fact, the richest state in Nigeria, when you talk about mineral resources, you talk about human capital, you talk about our topography. Today, everyone knows that Plateau is geographically located at the highest altitude in Nigeria.

"And we have the finest weather in probably West Africa. Our weather is well, our rocky environment is well.Today, there are over 50 commercial solid minerals on the Plateau.

We also have very important agricultural products on the Plateau that can be commercialised when you look at their value chain of employment, value chain of labour, and value chain of products. You realise we have so much of that.

"But on the Plateau today, none of this has been maximised economically to take us out of poverty.

"We have been foreclosed to three decades as one of the poorest states in Nigeria. Today, there are about seven to eight poorest states in Nigeria, and Plateau is one of them.

"According to the National Bureau of Statistics, trained on the 6th of August, especially the poverty rating for Nigeria is at 63 per cent, but it is so bad on the Plateau. We have a poverty rating of 84 per cent.

"There has never been a time in the history of Nigeria's democracy, from 1999 to this very moment, where governors get the kind of revenue allocation they are getting from the Federal Government. But today on the Plateau, we are almost like we are not getting anything", Kyarkshik mentioned.

He explained that there are two or three mandates in quest to change the narrative of governance in the state.

"Number one, we want to bring God-fearing men back into government. When you have God-fearing men in government, they do what is right; they give the people what is right for them.

And then, secondly, we want to end poverty on the Plateau by operating the government beyond subvention. The same thing is that Plateau would not depend on the federal allocation that comes every other month to operate what she needs to operate in the state, to live the life of the people", he noted.

He further expressed unwavering commitment and determination to end insecurity currently bedeviling the state, saying security is beyond rhetoric. "Ending insecurity is beyond coming out to condemn killings, to condemn people.

"Between 2023 and 2025, over 167 communities have been attacked on the Plateau, leading to a loss of over 2,630 people and leaving over 45,000 IDPs on the Plateau.

"And since this very administration came, they have been talking about taking these people back to their ancestral land. They have not been able to do that.

"Even yesterday, there was an attack on the Plateau. The government is no longer talking about the attack.

"Why am I giving these details? I am somebody who has come with a radical leadership on a different perspective of security.

"And I have always said that my security is summary. It is in one sentence: an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.

"I can't be governor and somebody who lives within the borders of Plateau State comes in, kills innocent people and goes back to their community without investigation.

"As a matter of fact, in my inaugural speech, when we win this election, we are going to declare war on the enemies, bandits and criminals within and around our people.

"They are already owing us. They have killed so many people. Cases have gone cold. We will reopen the cases and go after the killers.That is what we need on the Plateau", APM governorship candidate assured.
