The Special Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace has honoured Mr. John Katura, a philanthropist and the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of JOKATU Property Development Ltd. Abuja, with an award of excellence and named him an Ambassador of peace.

Organizers of the event said the recognition was in appreciation of Katura's outstanding and unwavering demonstration of humanitarian assistance, peace-building efforts, as well as  commitment to youth empowerment, and initiatives aimed at improving the livelihoods of vulnerable members in the society.

The Award which was presented to him on Saturday 19th September, 2026, by Major General M.W Dangana, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 3rd Armoured Division of the Nigerian Army who doubled as Commander Operation Endurance Peace, was received by Dr. Danjuma Sanda, the YPP candidate for the House of Representatives, Jos North and Bassa Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections.

The presentation took place during the 6th edition of the Operation Enduring Peace Youth Peace scouting Football Tournament, held at the JT Useni mini stadium, University of Jos.

The event was attended by the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, who was represented by the commissioner of Youth and Sports, Prince Miaphen, top military officers, religious leaders rulers, and traditional rulers.
Dr. Sanda while speaking to journalists after receiving the Award, said the honour will spur Mr. John Katura to do more for society, and the youth in particular.

Sanda added that the well-deserved honour was a testament to the undeniable impact Katura has made on the lives of the young people.

"True leadership is measured by the positive footprint left on others, and Mr. John Katura has consistently walked a path of service, and over the years, he has dedicated his time, resources, and wisdom to peace building, and nurturing the potential of our youths", Sanda said. 

He added that whether through mentoring individuals, securing employment opportunities, or championing community development projects, Katura's presence has been a constant source of stability and hope.

Sanda further explained that Katura has made youth empowerment his most enduring contribution by demonstrating to the youth of his community, Plateau State, and Nigeria that change happens through deliberate effort rather than chance.

He further stated that as a philanthropist, Katura has supported humanitarian causes to reduce human suffering and improve the welfare of mankind. 
Some of the youth who also spoke to this journalists after the event praised Katura's unwavering dedication to improving the lives of the people, particularly the most vulnerable,  and his efforts in fostering unity and cooperation across Nigeria.

They held that the award came at a challenging time when insecurity plagues many communities, adding that the recognition was a testament to philanthropist Katura's diligence and steadfast commitment to humanitarian causes.

Ambassador John Katura, is also the Patron, Plateau Youth Council, Plateau North Senatorial District; and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Anaguta Youth Development and Cultural Association.

 Many stakeholders and leaders of though who spoke to this medium believed the award would motivate Katura to do more, while serving as a reminder of the importance of youth empowerment, and humanitarian work in addressing community challenges.

They called on other people in the society to emulate Mr. Katura''s humane attitude toward the vulnerable in society.
