Plateau State Head of Service Azi Izam says the state will require about N2 billion monthly to meet up with the payment of the N30,000 minimum wage.

Speaking to newsmen, he said the state would endeavour to boost its internally generated revenue, block all the leakages as well as tackle the issue of ghost workers in the civil service.

He said the state would have to discipline itself financially and prohibit itself from spending money on less important things in order to channel the monies to payment of salaries.

“In terms of boosting our internally generated revenue, there are areas we will begin to give attention like the land use bill which many people have not been paying. We can have a data of the houses owners and begin to charge them accordingly. We can also look into the area of taxes and begin to intensify it,” he said.
