The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the Agricultural Service & Training Centre (ASTC) Jos, Plateau State, Dr. Susan Bentu posited that ASTC by every standards as a professional company doesn't compromise on quality or take shortcuts.
Dr. Susan said the ASTC Team that is decontaminating the entire State consists of professionals who are well trained in line with their jobs.
She said the various components of the work being done is not attributable to an individual as they work as a team.
She said the team is made up of chemical pathologists, chemical experts, experts in machine, those who are trained to handle the motorized sprayers, the think tank, professional engineers and mechanics.
Dr. Suzan said her team is a full team considering the highly trained professionals and experts therein.
She said it is laughable to hear people talk about the company cutting corners or being unprofessional considering the competent manpower and material resources the company possesses.
She said the chemicals used are very potent and meets the required standards and specifications.
"All the statutory bodies responsible for ensuring the safety of human beings and the environment have been involved in what we are doing and have given us the approval having been satisfied with what we are doing" she disclosed. She said the quantity of chemicals needed requires experts and their chemical experts are on base to ensure standards and required quality are met.
She said the State Ministry of Health, Ministry of Environment, NASREA and NAFDAC have certified the effectiveness of the Chemicals being used for the fumigation.
Dr. Susan lauded the selfless service of the workers who are covering the 17 LGAs of the State in 5 Days a feat that can be hardly achieved by any other company.
She said the potency of the chemicals is for a Month despite all environmental factors such as rainfall.
She said the company deserves commendation for the job it is doing for the interest of the State and not unhealthy criticisms being a company with 80% stake by the State and 20% by an Israeli Company.
Dr. Susan made these disclosures to online Reporters while responding to alleged lack of potency of the fumigation and unprofessional disposition on the part of the workers.
It will be recalled that the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong on Friday 10th April, 2020 flagged off the Fumigation Exercise which he said will take place across the 17 Local Government Areas of the State.
Dr. Susan Bentu who headed the team to Shendam, Qua'anpan, Mikang, Wase & Kanam LGAs said they were there to decontaminate the areas in line with government directive aimed at getting rid of not only the Coronavirus but other deadly and infectious diseases such as Lassa Fever and Malaria caused by rodents and mosquitoes.
Dr. Susan said the fumigation has the potency of killing insects and other animal-borne infections.
She lauded the efforts of the Lalong-led administration in its proactive steps to curb the spread of the dread coronavirus and commitment to public health.
"The Governor has displayed commitment to ensure a secured and healthy Plateau State is attained" she said.
She commended the people in the areas visited for complying with the lockdown order of government and understanding which made the fumigation exercise easier, faster, more effective and successful by staying indoors in order not to be contaminated with chemicals from the fumigation exercise.
