Since the advent of the novel Corona virus towards the end of 2019, keen observers of the virus have attest to how it has humbled Governments across the globe and expressed amazement to its constant wide spread within a little time frame. Government's concern at the moment is not how the virus came to be but how best the lives of the citizenry can be protected at this time. On the part of Barkin-Ladi Local Government Council under the leadership of Hon. Barrister Ezekiel Mandyau, the people of the Barkin-Ladi evidently have a feel of utmost love and concern from the leadership.The Awareness of the virus carried out in the Local Government Area saw to it that people were taught on safety measures and also provided items such as Hand Wash and Sanitizers to aid in the process of safety measures. The Council Boss not being ignorant of the plight of his people went ahead to provide palliatives to the vulnerable people (Poorest of the poor) of the Council, a step that has gone to speak volume of the person of Hon. Barrister Ezekiel Mandyau. Before the advent of the Index case of the virus in Plateau State, the message have been for the people to always maintain good hygiene, avoidance of hand shakes, regular hand wash and the use of hand sanitizers, the observance of social distancing, the abidance of the regulations set by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) among others have not changed. Rather a constant reiteration of the Council's reslove on the fight against the worldwide pandemic. As if that was not enough, Hon. Barrister Ezekiel Mandyau also held sensitization meetings with various groups at different levels aimed at educating the people on the Pandemic. Such grosups includes; Barkin-Ladi Management Committee Members, Traditional Council, Markets and Trade Unions, NURTW, CAN, JNI, Okada Riders Association, Youth and women groups as well as the Barrister Ezekiel Mandyau Mandate Group. The Chairman directed the COVID-19 taskforce team as constituted by his leadership to ensure complaince of restrictions as pronounced by His Excellency, the Captain of the Rescue team Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong. Hon. Barrister Ezekiel Mandyau also advice the people of Barkin-Ladi not to panic but remain calm even as the LGA have a record of four (4) confirmed cases and be more vigilant and proactive in the fight against the coronavirus as it's not a dead sentence.
