Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong says the emergence of Justice Monica Dongban as President of the Appeal Court of Nigeria is indicative of the present administration's respect for the rule of law, gender equality and inclusiveness.

Governor Lalong stated this shortly after the swearing in of Justice Dongban at the Supreme Court of Nigeria by the Chief Justice of the Federation Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed.

Our Government House Correspondent reports that the event was witnessed by dignitaries, including a cross section of stakeholders from Plateau State.

Justice Monica Dongban took the Oath of Office as President of the Appeal Court during the brief epoch making event, as she is the first citizen from the North Central Zone of Nigeria to preside over the court.

Chief Justice of the Federation Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed who administered the oath challenged Justice Dongban to get the best from her justices through her wealth of experience and hardwork.

Stakeholders from Plateau State, especially relations, friends and associates who came in solidarity with the new Appeal Court President wh
were led by Governor Simon Lalong.

While Speaking with reporters shortly afterwards, the Governor underscored the significance of the emergence of Justice Dongban to the pinnacle of service in the Appeal Court.

Similarly, a cross section of the Stakeholders including the Minister of Women Affairs Pauline Tallen, and Member Representing Jos North - West  Esther Dusu said Justice Dongban has demonstrated the superiority of hard work and discipline over gender stereotypes and mediocrity.

The Long Dorok of Dorok chiefdom in Shendam Local Government Area Miskoom David Isa Dongban  as well as Speaker Plateau State  House of Assembly Abok Nuhu Ayuba and the Attorney General of the state Chris Ahmadu advised Justice Dongban to remain focus and keep making Plateau people and women proud of her contribution to nation building. 

It will be recalled that President Mohammadu Buhari's nomination of Justice Dongban for the position early this month, scaled through approval of the Senate without a single petition.
