Plateau State Local Government Service Commission Transfers 7,551 Staffers

The Plateau State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) has transferred 7,551 out of the 10,378 unified staff across the 17 LGCs of the state to meet the four demands of the tripartite workers of the commission, namely, the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE),Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN) and National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) of "No Work, No pay",Staff Promotion,lack of conversion and the transfer of Staff who have spent more than five years in a particular station.
This disclosure was made at a media briefing with a select media representatives at the newly renovated conference hall of the Commission in Jos by the Permanent Secretary, Mr.Henry K Lankwap before Management of the Commission,DG and the Management of the Primary Health Care and Development Agency, Directors of Personal (DPMs) and Directors of Finance (DFS) of the 17 LGCs of the State.
The Permanent Secretary, Mr Henry K.Lankwap hinted that armed with the approval of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Plateau State and the Chairman of the Northern Governor's Forum via a memo to allow the Permanent Secretary and Directors of the commission to carry out transfer of Staffers of the 17 LGCs who have stagnated in the same station for a period over fifteen years, today the commission gave the Directors of Personnel the transfer letters to the affected staff after the endorsement of their respective council Chairmen.
Lankwap also explained that the transfer was done in conjunction with relevant agencies like the Plateau State Rural Water Supply Agency (PRUWASSA),Plateau Potato Value Chain Support Project, the National Social Investment Programme, Plateau State Cash Transfer Unit, the Plateau State Primary Health Care Development Agency, the Plateau State Aids Control Agency, the Community and Social Development Agency and the Plateau State Football Association, all contributed in transferring Staff responsible for implementing world bank programmes and projects supported by UNICEF, EU et al.
The Permanent Secretary expressed the appreciation of the commission to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, the tripartite union's well as the Press in bringing back the Glory of the Plateau State Local Government Service Commission. He hinted that in order to handle the task ahead, the Directors of Personnel Management are to constitute a Committee in their respective LGCs for the proper documentation of all involved staff to give room for a seamless exercise in the interest of the service.
In his remarks, Dr Livinus Miapkwap,the Executive Secretary of the Plateau State Primary Health Care Development Agency commended the Permanent Secretary of the Commission for always being there for the Agency with his wealth of experience and expertise which helped his Agency to have national recognition of coming second position in the Immunization Program and the Proper Dietary Guidelines,which attracted two world bank projects. He promised to continue collaborating with the Commission.
The NULGE President in address said that the bringing to light and the actualisation of the transfer of Staffers at the third tier of Government is not only historic but that history will be kind to the Permanent Secretary and his team. He appealed to the Commission and ALGON to pay disturbance allowances to all concerned Staffers.
Comrade Selkur Dashe, the Plateau State Chairman of the Medical and Health Workers Union assured the Executive Governor of Plateau State and the Commission of 100% support for the posting.
Comrade Briskila D Dabit, the Plateau State Chairman of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives called on Directors to cooperate with displaced Leadership of Unions and eulogized the Permanent Secretary for revolutionizing the Commission.
The vote of thanks was by Mr Caleb Gullak,the Director of Personnel Management of Jos East LGC, who doubles as the Chairman of the Committee of DPMs.He appreciated the Permanent Secretary and his management for spending sleepless nights, even at weekends, to ensure that the transfer was made without prejudice and rancor.
DPMs,DFS,Executive Secretary, Managements of the Commission and the Primary Health Care Development Agency attended the epoch making event.
