The executive Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong have sworn in Jock Alamba as the brand new management committee chairman of Barkin Ladi Local Government Council to succeed late Barr. Ezekiel Mandyau.

You would recall Barr. Ezekiel Mandyau who died in July, 2020, was sworn in as management committee chairman of Barkin Ladi Local Government in October, 2019, alongside those of Jos North, Jos South and Riyom Local Government Areas respectively.

Performing the inauguration ceremony at Government House Little Rayfield, Governor Lalong tasks the incoming transition chairman for the challenges ahead.

" As management committee chairman for Barkin Ladi is therefore necessary in order to fill the vacuum and ensure that governance in the Local Government continues unhindered.

"The expectations are very high for delivery of basic services that will improve the living standards of the people. Therefore, you must take this assignment as a challenge for you to bring to bear your wealth of experience and make a difference.

You are coming at a time when Buhari the Nation and our state is dealing with the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic which has adversely affected many facets of life, including finances of the Local Government.

"This means that you must embrace prudence, accountability and accord priority to the programmes and projects that have direct bearing on the lives of the people. There is no time for wasteful spending and financial recklessness", the Governor warned.

Accepting the mantle of leadership, Jock Alamba vowed to consolidate on the foundation of peace and development for the progress of Barkin Ladi.

He also pledged unflinching support and loyalty to ensure that the three policy thrust of Lalong's administration come to fruition.

Jock Alamba who was born on 9th March, 1954, served as an elected counsellor and chairman of Barkin Ladi between the period of 1990-1993.

He was the deputy National welfare secretary of the ruling All Progressive Congress,(APC), until he was appointed to assume the position of management committee chairman of the same Barkin Ladi Local Government.
