Senator representing Plateau North Senatorial district, Istifanus Gyang have stated that the incoming scheduled 31st October,2020, Plateau South Senatorial district by-election is going to be a referendum on the performance of Governor Simon Lalong in the state particularly Southern Plateau.

"And the people of Plateau South this is the time for you to assess the Governor, the performance is going to be assess through this election! And if the assessment is anything to go by we that the Governor will not get up to ten percent of the election in Plateau South.

"There are youth who are, hitherto very apologetic to APC who came to me this afternoon presented this to me that they are saying "No to Caretaker Senator" in Plateau South. This are Youths who are very apologetic to APC they just drag me the party Secretariat this afternoon and they said I should let you know that Plateau South is saying "No so I know when to Caretaker Senator",  they said only George Daika they trust for Plateau South Senator", He mentioned.

The Lawmaker, Gyang,who was speaking at PDP state Secretariat in Jos, Friday during their official inauguration as members campaign team of the forthcoming Plateau South by-election said they would resist any attempt by the ruling APC to sabotage and subvert the process of the election.

"We also use this opportunity because we're aware of what the Government is doing to subvert the senatorial by-election, by subverting the electoral process but I want to tell him that we're equal to the task! 

"We're very equal to the task. We have a candidate whose pedigree is very well known not only state wide but nation wide.And this is someone of whom the people of Plateau South on non partisan basis have been endorsed!

He also challenged Governor Lalong to conduct Local Government elections in Jos South,Jos North, Riyom and Barkin Ladi that remains depending.

"We are waiting for the conduct of elections in Jos South, Jos North, Riyom and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas. I want to use this opportunity to let the Plateau State Governor knows that he is still the member of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), and he supposed to be among those that would respect the rule of law. As a former speaker of the state House of Assembly he supposed to demonstrate capacity, he supposed to be someone who would institute the rule of law not to subvert it.

And we are using this opportunity to tell the Governor of Plateau State that what is happening in Plateau State the refusal to conduct Local Government elections in the Local Government Areas of Plateau North," that the time has come for him to yield to the will and wishes of Plateau North particularly the affected Local Governments.

"And we will not again agree to any elongation of tenure of people that were not elected. We are saying this very clear and we want this message to reach to the Governor of Plateau State," Gyang voice out.

Chairman of Plateau State chapter of People Democratic party, PDP, Chris Hassan expressed optimism with composition of personalities heading the campaign Council which cut across the three Senatorial Districts of Plateau.

He said the party has eighty percent chances of winning the election because our candidate is one of the best,calling on party loyalists to continue supporting the party as they are working assiduously to reconcile all aggrieved party members.
