In her bid to ensure safe school reopening, the member representing Jos North West constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Surv. Esther Simi Dusu, interacts with head teachers/mistresses and PTA chairmen of some selected primary schools in Jos North West constituency to sensitize and distribute sanitary items ahead of safe school reopening as pronounced by the state government. 


The covid-19 response community engagement was held on 16th of October, 2020 at the Jos North Local Government Education Authority Secretariat with the aim of orientating head Teachers and PTA chairmen in respect of covid 19 safety measures.



John Kele, Senior Legislative aide to Hon. Dusu said “it is in regards of the above the Hon. Member representing the good people of Jos North/West constituency in the State House of Assembly deems’ it feet to have a common forum, as you all know parents and teachers synergise together; as schools are reopening on Monday there is need to sensitise our wards as they resume classes.” 



Hon. Dusu said the interaction has become necessary considering the fragile nature of the pupils and teachers as they will be returning to school amidst the Corona virus pandemic. And has found it necessary to contribute her little quota in ensuring the well being of the leaders of tomorrow.


“We will make sure the children wash their hands, that is why we got some buckets, because the health nature of our children, is also their learning ability, as we sensitize ourselves we have to discuss on how the modules in which the children will return back to the class, they have to come to school fully masked and also there must be seat spacing in line with covid-19 guidelines as we have demonstrated this morning” said Dusu.



High point of the occasion was the presentation of hand washing plastic buckets and cash to enable the schools purchase other sanitary items needed. And reiterate that covid-19 is real and all hands must be on deck to fight the pandemic.


Earlier, the Jos North Acting Education Secretary Mrs.  Jemaima Amumu Yunana, in her opening remarks appreciates Hon. Dusu for her kind gesture and described her as one of a kind. Saying that this is the first time a politician is approaching the Jos North educational board with such a laudable gesture, while praying God to grand her success in her endeavours.



Other speakers include: the senior Ward Head Jenta Adamu, Da Cabala Bwede, Youth CAN chairman Jos North Rev. Samson Maina, JNI chairman Jos North Alhj. Danjumai, supervisory councillor for education Hon. Lami Etsiye, Jos North PTA chairman comrade Ada Olaleye and a host of others. They all took turns to eulogies the leadership qualities of Hon. Dusu, for being a kind hearted representative with the desire to see to the well being of her people.
