Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abok N Ayuba has said that Surveyors have a critical role to play  in the next  phase of revenue generation scheme in Plateau State.


The Speaker stated this at the Northern Surveyors Forum (NSF)  2020 Annual General Meeting held at Treasures Inn, Rayfield in Jos.


Representing the Chairman of the occasion, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Maje (Deputy Speaker), Federal House of Representatives, Abuja,   Speaker thanked the surveyors for chosen Plateau State to host the annual conference while reminding them that it is the effort put by the present administration that has ensured relative peace in the State which makes it possible for important programs such as this, NAFEST and the rest to be hosted here on the Plateau.


He also called on the Surveyors to come up with solutions to the problems of building collapse in Jos because surveyors have a key role to play in the implementation of the new revenue generation scheme of the State.


Chairman of Northern Surveyors Forum (NSF), Surv. Winston Ayeni opined that lack of data on housing, forest and the environment is a serious challenge and one of the problems created by man which is harming the environment and harped on the need to use remote sensing and GIS to enable the country achieve a safe environment.


He made a clarion call to the Government of Plateau State to set up modalities for the establishment of the Office of the Surveyor General of Plateau State in view of the critical roles Surveyors play in bringing about rapid development to society.
