… As Tusung Holds Maiden Celebration, Awards series
The need for parents, guardians and stakeholders of every community to intensify efforts towards reviving the culture of morals and integrity have been brought to the fore.
The call formed the crux of the second in the series of ‘Tusung Day Celebration’ organized by Tusung Community Development Association (TUDA) at Government Secondary School, Tusung-Fan.
Former Management Committee Chairman of Barkin-Ladi LGC, Hon. Dickson Yusuf Chollom who bagged an award as ‘Distinguished Community Developer of Fan District’ while addressing people, stated that, party politics has successfully eroded the initial love and togetherness of our people.
According to him, the need to exhume the core values of motherland which deifies Integrity, love and respect above all, have become more expedient than ever.
Dickson described Tusung community as bridge builders.Thus espoused the importance and fulfilment of hard work adding that every virtue will get a happy reward of excellence. “I agree with the need for our early communal living. With it every child belonged to society. We must revive it.”
He also called on members of communities to embrace collectivism which he described as a catalyst for greater development.
“We must be collective as a people to do greater things. Let’s exhume our buried core values and deity integrity.”
In his welcome address, the Chairman of Tusung Development Association (TUDA) Mr Simon Adamu, identified a need to completing an Examination Hall already started by the community as a challenging need, even as he called for all hands to be on deck in that respect.
Hon. Dickson Chollom, in his usual philantropism made a handsome cash donation to assist the Community in the completion of it's project.
Various speakers at the event further emphasized the essence of education towards the development of society.
The event also witnessed Hon. Da Jock Alamba, Management Committee Chairman of Barkin-Ladi LGC, Hon. Comr Dung Daweng Pam, Special Assistant to the Governor of Plateau State on information and Communication Technology, Hon. Gyang Nash Shut, Councilor representing Tafan/Nwok A ward, and Hon. Nuhu, supervisory Councilor for Education, Barkin-Ladi LGC among other dignitaries amid a rich display of culture and tradition.
