Plateau State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency ( PLASCHEMA has commenced the distribution of 1,356 access care Identity cards for civil servants from different ministries in Plateau State on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at the Cabinet Office, Joseph Gomwalk Secretariat, Jos.
Flagging off the distribution of the cards, the Director general of PLASCHEMA, Dr. Fabong Jemchang said the purpose of the visit and presentation of the cards is to enable registered staff have access to health care services.
The essence of this event is to officially flag off the distribution of cards called “Plateau health card” to people in the formal sector who have chosen facilities to access the state social health insurance scheme services.
Dr. Fabong said “at the point of enrollment some did not choose facilities so we created a portal for them to choose facilities and using the numbers they enrolled with and we have printed 1’356 cards for the first batch” to plateau citizens to have access to health care services”
“We have enrolled 32,500 in the basic health care provision fund, we 880,000 in the informal sector, we have enrolled 15,803 in the formal sector and then we have close to a 1000 in the private health plan.
We have always said that a healthy viable population translate to economically viable population, is when people are health that they can go out to look for means of livelyhood.”
Dr.Fabong further said “Government have provided massive social responsibility in that regard, the rescue administration creating social net called the PLASCHEMA.”
Dr. Fabong stated that their targets in the first two years is to get to 25% of the entire population on the plateau and then in the next five years they intend to get to 50% of the entire population.
In his strive towards achieving universal health coverage, his Excellency the Executive Governor of Plateau state .the Rt. Hon. Dr. Simon Bako Lalong, also the chairman Northern governor’s forum, created the PLASCHEMA exactly two years ago but assuming office in September 2019, basically our function is to identify where this resources are and do what we called resource mobilization, risk pulling and then strategic purchasing and service delivery. And we flag off access to care on the 27 April at the Seventh Day Adventist Clinic in Jingir today we are here for just something simple and that thing is to distribute a card to people who have selected their facilities.
Today’s occasion will Mark the first distribution of this card subsequently we’re not going to gather like this to distributes the cards we will only send messages to the staff, officers of the agency to come to the headquarter to collect cards for their people but today being the first day we are distributing 1,356 cards to be given to officers of agency for distribution to members staff.
All enrolled staff are to present themselves to facilities which they have chosen for data capture thereafter open file with the facilities to access health care which is promotive preventive, curative and is rehabilitative.
Jemchang thanked ministries and agencies that believed in the scheme.
He promised that’s with the constant contribution at the agency they will offer nothing less than the best.
Together at the event were directors from the Agency, David Danladi Wuyep, the director of health services standard and policy control, Dr. Dawal Solomon Kwande, director of cooperation and ICT, Dr Benjamin Madaki, director of planning research and statistics and Sabastine Hommuk director of communication and development units.
Responding on behalf of the staff officers, Mrs Retkinan from Plateau specialist hospital, thanked the plateau state government for this initiative and thank the DG for working tirelessly to make it work and prayed God to bless the DG with wisdom
