Senator Professor Nora Ladi Dadu'ut (APC Plateau South )  has empowered no fewer than 200  youths and women in her senatorial district with agricultural inputs.

Speaking at the occasion which took place in Shendam on Thursday, Senator Dadu'ut said she is determined to encourage Youths and Women to embark on farming as it is a strategic and economic approach towards ensuring food security in Plateau South Senatorial District.

Represented by Mrs Rufina Gurumyen, her Legislative aide, the Senator said the training was facilitated in her bid to ensure youths of the senatorial district were self-employed through productive skills.

“I believe in sustainable empowerment rather than consumables empowerment, and that informs the reason why I am empowering and organizing this training for my constituents she added.

The Senator further said that food, as we know, is the most important basic human need apart from clothing and shelter, this is the reason why food production is being encouraged by the Federal Government and by the Simon Lalong administration, it is in line with the Governor's yearn for improved food production and his zeal to make Plateau state a fulfilled land of the green revolution, this I commit my programme to train  Youths and women in farming practices.

" I am pleased to see one of my dreams being realized, at the end of the three-day training, they would not go away as they came, as the 200 beneficiaries would acquire better skills and knowledge on farming of Yam, Guinea corn ground nuts and other crops that are widely cultivated in all parts of the Senatorial district, this would boost food production and economic sustainability in Plateau South.

Senator Dadu'ut said the participants would be presented with Knapsack and agricultural kits as well as capital to enable them to start their farm activities.

The participants expressed their happiness to the senator for facilitating such a programme and promised to make the best use of the knowledge, agricultural implements and cash acquired from the training.
