Dr. Patrick Sunday Dakum, the Plateau State Gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party in the forthcoming 2023 general election, has today, Thursday, December 29, 2023 Commissioned Grassroots Movement for Obi-Datti and Dakum-Pwajok Group campaign office at Rukuba Road, Jos.

Mr. Chidi Emmanuel, convener of the Grassroots Movement for Obi-Datti and Dakum-Pwajok Group, highlighted that it's a support organization that has membership in the 17 local governments of Plateau State, noting that the main objective of the group was to support the candidacy of the standard bearer of the Labour Party, that is, Peter Obi for President and his running mate Yusuf Datti for Vice President, while Dr. Patrick Sunday Dakum for Governor of Plateau State and his running mate Barr. Edward Pwajok for Deputy Governor, and betterstill all other candidates seeking elective positions in the party.

In his part, Mr. Pedro Michael, an ICT expert in the group, stated that the campaign support group was initiated a few months ago but has traversed almost the length and breadth of Plateau State and has interfaced with many rural dwellers in the state who are conversant with the name of the party's gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Patrick Sunday Dakum, but are most often confused about the party, which needs lots of work.

Pedro further stressed that the campaign support group had plans to organize musical concerts in rural communities to create further awareness to the potential voters about the candidates seeking elective positions under the platform of the Labour Party, as well as to encourage the rural dwellers on the need to have, safeguard, and use their permanent voters cards, or PVCs, to elect candidates of the party for a better Nigeria, Plateau State, and their respective constituencies.

Mike Audu, the Deputy Chairman of the Labour Party, Plateau State, who represented the Chairman, Ms Grace Zamfara, who was unavoidably absent, lauded the efforts of the convener, Mr. Chidi Emmanuel, and the entire members of the support group for the provision of the campaign office and equally for the commendable efforts they put in to ensure that not only the party is known in all the rural communities but that the entire candidate of the party won in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

Mr. Audu urged the group to sustain the tempo, insisting that their efforts would not go in vain, while cautioning them to desist from any activities aimed at seeking attention to themselves and instead channel their efforts towards winning the forthcoming 2023 general elections in all the elective positions for the Labour Party.

Dr. Patrick Sunday Dakum reiterated that they are hoping and believing God and have faith that this movement would result in a better Nigeria with Obi-Datti as the president and vice president elect, Dakum-Pwajok as governor and deputy governor elect, as well as all other candidates of the party, and so he emphasized that there's no way one keeps going in the wrong direction and continues in that direction and expects a difference; the outcome will not be different. Likewise, if you are repeating something over and over again and it is not giving you the results you want, you have to change it.

The Plateau State Labour Party Gubernatorial hopeful stated that "we believe that Nigeria going over and over again repeating all that we've been doing it's not going to give us a different outcome, our security, economic, and job creation situation would remain the same if not worse, it means then that if you want us to go in a different direction you must change the driver, you must change those that are stirring the wheels."

Dr. Dakum further maintained that "for us, we are confident that there's hope for Nigeria with Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti as president and vice president, and that is what we will continue to say and work for; we are confident that Plateau State would be better, that Plateau State would change for the better, and that there's hope for Plateau State if you vote for Dakum and Pwajok for governor and deputy."

He buttressed the fact that "the reason is because I want you to survey all other contestants in the other political parties, check the combination, the governor and the deputy if there's any you can trust better; it's not that we are saying to blow our trumpet, but because God has granted us the opportunity to garner all the experience, exposure, and education needed both of us; you cannot beat a team of an experienced international medical doctor like me and an experienced legal luminary who is a SAN and body of life bencher and expect to get zero; that's not possible.

Dr. Dakum cautioned the electorates to beware of the antics of some unscrupulous politicians who would come after their PVCs, saying they should show them but not alone have them copy their PVC's number because that is the only means of changing what they don't want; it's stronger than your ATM card, and they should use it to make the change they desire.

He admonished the supporters to campaign vigorously for the success of the party in the forthcoming general elections, and they should also inquire from the electorates what they want the government to do for them considering the diversity as well as the peculiarities of the locality.

Dr. Dakum, the Plateau State Gubernatorial candidate, was flanked by his running mate, Barr. Edward Pwajok, SAN, KSG; Chief Maichibi Vwarji, Mr. Jonathan Gukut,Chief Amb Nanyah Daman, Coach Amos Dangs, Elder David Boloptz, Miriam Ahmed and other top party officials were among the dignitaries who graced the epoch-making event.
