The Plateau state Deputy Governor, Mrs Josephine Piyo, has advised parents to invest in girl-child education, saying it yields significant social and economic benefits, healthier families, reduced poverty and increased gender equality in the society. 

Piyo said this during the Speech and Prize Giving Day of the Air Force Girls Military School, Jos.

She regretted that many barriers still hinders the education of girls in various parts of the world and in Nigeria, stating that discrimination, cultural norms, early marriages, lack of resources and gender-based violence were just a few of the challenges that prevent girls from accessing education. 

The Deputy Governor who celebrated the achievements of the graduating students, stated that government would remember its responsibility to break down these barriers and create an environment where every girl can realise her full potential.

She applauded the graduating Junior Airwomen who have proven that with determination, resilience, and unwavering dedication, they can overcome any obstacle that come their way. 

“The theme The Girl Child Education and the 21st Century Dynamics," resonates deeply as we strive for progress and gender equality in an ever-evolving world.

“You have taken advantage of the opportunities provided to you, and you stand as shining examples of what can be achieved when girls are given equal access to education. 

“Your achievements inspire us all, and I have no doubt that you will continue to make a positive impact on society. As you move forward in your respective journeys, remember to embrace the values instilled in you during your time here at Air Force Girls Military School Jos. 

“Values such as integrity, discipline, and a commitment to excellence. These values will serve as your compas as you navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

“Today, we gather to recognize not only the achievements of these remarkable individuals but also to shed light on a subject that is of utmost significance in our society the education of the girl child in the 21st century''.

The Deputy governor stressed that education has always been the cornerstone of progress and development for any society. 

The Commandant of the school, Group Captain R.S Bello, in a remark stated that the school has graduated almost three thousand girls whom have gone to become great achiever in different aspects of life. 

Bello charged the graduands to be ambassadors of change in the society and not forget the discipline and values has placed in them.

On his part, Air Vice Marshal Usman Abdulahi, Air Officer Commanding, Ground Training Command, said that there were no limits for the girl as women have shown to be good leaders in the society. 

Abdulahi stated that the Air Force recognises the importance of Girl-Child education that is why it established the only military girls school in the country.
