The National and State Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in High Court 6 Division, Jos, has dismissed two allegations bother on certificate forgery peddled against candidate of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Adamu Alkali for Bassa-Jos North Federal Constituency seat election,held 25th February, 2023.

Alkali who represented the constituency in the 9th Assembly was dragged to Tribunal by the candidates of Labour Party, Daniel Asama Agoh as well as Rt. Hon.Ibrahim Baba Hassan of All Progressive Congress (APC), accusing him of certificate forgery.

The duo contained that as of time of election into the office of Jos North-Bassa Constituency held 25th February, 2023, Adamu Alkali did not possess a requisite qualification to join the contest.

Delivering judgment in suit No:EPT/PL/HR/10/2023 filed by Daniel Asama Agoh, Labour Party (petitioners) against Adamu Alkali and 4 others as Respondents, Honourable Justice Mohammed Mohammed dismissed the allegation for lacking in merit.

Similarly, Justice Emmanuel Nwazunku PhD stroke out petition in suit No: EPT/PL/HR/08/2023, between Ibrahim Baba Hassan, APC (Petitioners) against Adamu Alkali and 6 others as Respondents.

Tribunal held that the petitioners failed to proved allegation of certificate forgery against Adamu Alkali.

"The letter of disclaimer supposed to be forward to the Tribunal from the Primary school where petitioners claimed Alkali forged certificate.

"The Tribunal cannot speculate on the issues that supposed to be proved. The petitioners has failed to proved their case beyond reasonable doubt, the petition is hereby dismissed...."

Reacting to the Tribunal verdict, Chairman Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, Plateau State Chapter, Rabi'u Lawal expressed optimism with the judgment said allegation of forgery is not something one should take for granted

"The petitioners lack the capacity to proved their case whereby defaming the character of our candidate for Bassa-Jos North Federal Constituency in the just concluded February 25th, 2023, general elections.

"They don't have anything to proved to the petition that is why the Tribunal dismissed all the cases filed by Ibrahim Baba Hassan of APC and Daniel Asama Agoh of Labour party in favour of our candidate. We are calling on all Plateau citizens to disassociate from defamation of character.

"The Party will appeal and claimed this defamation of character meted against our candidate so that it will served as a lesson to every one wanted to do so.

Spokesman of Adamu Alkali, Ibrahim Mohammed acknowledged that the matter has been settled as judgment is the signed of relief for the constituents of Jos North-Bassa.

"It is cleared that our principal is a true nationalist and democrat, he cannot resort to certificate forgery. God has already blessed him, and therefore his desire is to always reach out to the masses.

"The major concerned of our principal is to always reaching out the society. It is evidently clear that if you goes round the city center now you would see a massive infrastructural and human capital development he embarked upon.

"Were definitely going to appeal a judgment delivered against us in favour of Musa Agah Avia of PDP."
