The Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) Chairman of Qua'an-Pan Local Government Area, Plateau State, Hon. Christopher Audu Wallat has award a whooping sum of N15 million scholarship to 478 indigene tertiary institutions students.

Our correspondent reports that the intervention tagged "Qua'an-Pan LGA scholarship scheme 2023", is aimed at assisting the students to pursue their studies with vigor and cushion the effect of school drop out.

It was also learned that the benefiting students were cut across various institutions of learning nationwide.

Speaking during the official presentation ceremony of the scholarship scheme to the beneficiaries, held Tuesday at ASUU Secretariat University of Jos,TIC chairman Qua'an-Pan LGA, Christopher Audu Wallat, revealed it is a first batch as they were eager to do more.

Wallat acknowledged that the gesture is in tune with " The Time Is Now " mantra of Governor Caleb Mutfwang led administration in Plateau.
"First, we want to thank the executive Governor of Plateau state, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang for given us the opportunity to serve our people, as he always emphasized that we should carry everybody along. Qua'an-pan is one of the disadvantage local government in Plateau in terms of educational facilities.

"And what inform our decision to keyed into this initiative is because of the hardship, and our people predominantly are farmers and you know the kind of difficulties students are facing considering the reality of how the Nigeria economic is biting. 

"By the grace of God this is the first batch and hope that we continue that one and there is no two way to it. We are children of the poor, we know how important to give it to sponsor education. The sustainability of the scholarship scheme shall be a continues process by the grace of God. I urged the beneficiaries to continue studying hard because it is an opportunity given to them and some people doesn't have such opportunity. Let them be of good character in their institutions of learning and equally represents Qua'an-Pan very well. Once they are of good character the sky shall be their limit. 

"I felt very happy and not only me but the people of Qua'an-Pan LGA, must especially their parents when they get to know that were been able to help them without them knowing, I think I am so fulfill that we don't make noise but rather doing what is right", Wallat stated.

Dr. Charles Dawang, chairman scholarship scheme committee Qua'an-Pan 2023, confirmed that at the end of the 12 days period of advertisement, the committee received 2,400 applicants from various tertiary institutions of learning.

He said after a rigorous screening and looking at the  number of applicants it is difficult to accommodate all of  them at the same time.

"We have selected 478 beneficiaries which made up of 45% applicants that cut across 20 state wards in Qua'an-Pan LGA for first batch."
Some of the beneficiaries, Emmanuel Fred, a 500 level student of vetenary medicine, Amadu Bello University Zaria, Piandat Maanshang, 300 level student of English Education University of Jos, Sabo Dogara Mathias, 300 level student of medical surgery University of Jos as well as Dawang Teresa Moenshinaan, a 200 level student of medical sciences, Bingham University Teaching Hospital shower praises on Hon. Christopher Audu Wallat for reaching out to them despite hardship and economic challenges confronting the nation.

While praying for God grace on TIC chairman to do more, the students promised to put the stipends given to them into use to bring out the best in them in their various field of academic endeavor.
