The Mandyeng Festival is a significant cultural event celebrated by the Berom people of Plateau State, Nigeria. It typically takes place in April or May every year. The festival commemorates the Berom people's rich cultural heritage and their ancestors' bravery and resilience.





During the festival, the Berom people come together to showcase their traditional music, dance, food, and attire. They also engage in traditional wrestling, archery, and other cultural competitions. The festival provides an opportunity for the Berom people to reconnect with their roots and strengthen their sense of community and identity.



The mandyeng festival is very important to usher in the raining season farming across berom land it is usually held across each berom district to consult the gods of the land to usher in the farming season and seek bountiful harvest for the people,it is believed the rites performed during the festival is meant to appease the gods of the land so as to prevent disease infestation and allow bountiful harvest.


This year's mandyeng Turu was very colourful as the people came out in droves to pledge allegiance to the gwom turu and pay homage as a sign of respect to traditional custom's homage were received from various groups and community leaders including the likes of prof Pam Yakubu an illustrious son of the soil, the gwom turu in his speech appealed to the people to conduct themselves in a good behaviour throughout the farming season and shun all vices that will bring disrepute to the land, he performed the traditional rites as custom demanded with the climax witnessed by all there present the outpouring of rain as a sign the gods have received the traditional rites performed.

The event had in attendance numerous illustrious son's and daughters of the land including prof David Pam Yakubu, Hon Solomon Badung Jos ,Hon Dachomo Datiyi , Hon Emma Toksele etc
